About Us
Stephen is a 4th generation attorney, that is looking to bring the values, ethics, and dedication of The Salmon Law Firm in Amsterdam, NY to Northern Utah. The original Salmon Law Firm was founded in 1911 by Stephen’s Great Grandfather Carl S. Salmon, Sr. Stephen is now following in the footsteps of his mentors his Grandfather Carl S. Salmon, Jr. and his Father Del B. Salmon
Throughout his career, Stephen worked at The Salmon Law Firm in a variety of capacities, learning all he could about practicing law from his Father and Grandfather. Stephen learned the power of hard work, ethics, mutual respect and the importance of dedication to do the right thing.
Stephen attended college at St. John Fisher University, where he studied Sports Management and graduated with a Bachelors of Science. While in school, he won numerous leadership awards and had the opportunity to experience some unique employment opportunities. One he is most fond of was ushering for his favorite football team, the Buffalo Bills.
After graduating from college, Stephen worked in Customer Service for several years, which helped him hone the ability to truly listen to his customers and provide the services to meet their actual needs. Through this work experience his desire to help others in ways that were most impactful, deepened. This made him realize that he had the ability to do more to help those in his community.
Following in his Father’s footsteps, Stephen attended Vermont Law School in South Royalton, VT and graduated on the 25th anniversary of his father’s commencement. While there, Stephen sought out ways to be involved and give back to others. He took on multiple leadership roles and provided pro-bono services through the legal clinic in town. In doing so, he was able to help families that needed legal guidance but were monetarily limited, helping to alleviate the financial stress that often comes with legal needs.
Through his exploration of law and its various types of practice, Stephen completed an internship with the Honorable Philip V. Cortese, in Montgomery County Family Court, worked in the Athletic Department at Seton Hall University, and completed a semester long Externship with The Ivy League Conference in Princeton, NJ.
In February of 2015, Stephen and his family moved to Ogden, UT for an opportunity for Stephen to further his career, working at Weber State University. Currently, Stephen is a Full-Time Instructor of Communication at Weber State and has opened The Salmon Law Firm here in Utah with the hopes of bringing the same compassion and understanding for clients that he learned from his time working with his father at The Salmon Law Firm in New York.
One of the cornerstones of Stephen’s life and business is family. He can often be found spending time with his wife Amanda, their two amazing dogs Peach and Roo (who run the house), and all of their friends, that have now become family. He is a firm believer that “family” comes in all shapes and sizes and wants to ensure that ALL families have the opportunity to protect their future (Not sure of the wording here).
With resources often being tight, especially for young or growing families, Stephen’s goal is to provide quality legal services that help protect families and familial assets with convenience and to do it at an affordable price. Knowing that taking time off work for appointments, finding a babysitter for the kids, or finding someone to help with caretaker responsibilities for aging family members can be a barrier for people to get the legal assistance they need, Stephen works non-traditional business hours and is happy to work with you to arrange appointments at your home instead of making you come into the office.
In case you are curious, Stephen and Amanda are massive fans of all things Disney. From Disney Lorcana, to movies, to being a connoisseur of park snacks, they love it all. When not working, Stephen can often be found reading, watching movies, or cheering on his favorite teams the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, and the Weber State Wildcats.
Stephen is excited to offer his services through The Salmon Law Firm and provide families with the peace of mind that Wills and other legal documents have to offer. He is a member of The Utah Bar Association, The Weber County Bar Association, The LGBTQ Bar Association and the Elder Law Bar Association and is delighted to provide services to all individuals and families, without any judgements.
